First, what does government do best? The groups answers:

• Judicial
• Infrastructure: bridges, highways
• Civil service
• Protection: fire, police, military and public safety
• Public health and guarantee purity of food, drugs
• Air Traffic Control
• Education

Second, is health care a right or a commodity? The groups answers:

• limits to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness – health care now necessary for these, but if limited, discrimination could result
• how define health care?
• Responsibilities of individual
• Better society if treat diabetics and similar needs early
• Right to food?

Four freedoms by President Roosevelt were mentioned: "We look forward to a world founded upon four essential human freedoms.

• The first is freedom of speech and expression — everywhere in the world.
• The second is freedom of every person to worship God in his own way — everywhere in the world.
• The third is freedom from want — everywhere in the world.
• The fourth is freedom from fear — anywhere in the world."
